My wife's cousin made this last year.
This is what Owen Cant had to say about the making of his video:
As part of today's rare disease day 2021- I'd like to share a film I made with you, which I'm chuffed to say has just been selected as a finalist in the 2021 'international rare disease film festival- Berlin'.
You can watch the full film (12mins) here:
"It is called One in a million and is about my cousin Anya, who suffers from an ultra-rare condition called 'Alternating Hemiplegia of Childhood (AHC)'. It is a short documentary that explores the traumatic period of diagnosis and the subsequent ways in which a family must adapt to an unpredictable disease that as yet has no cure.
On a personal level, making this film put a lot in perspective and I am moved and inspired by how Anya, Katherine & Abhishek manage as a team in the face of this very tough disease, every single day.
Massive thanks to Matthew Sturdy for the brilliant edit and to Alex Taylor and Shona Brown at cosmic joke ltd for producing. Also thanks to Tum Borford for the soundtrack and Kitty Hopking for the titles.
I will also be running the 2021 Manchester Marathon in aid of the AHC Foundation, a charity raising money for research into a cure for the condition. Please give whatever you can spare by clicking the link below. Thanks to those who have donated already".
